"Runaway Bride"

“Runaway bride” was directed by Gary Marshall and Scott Marshall. It was released in 1999. As Richard Gere and Julia Robert are my favorite actor and actress, I chose “Runaway Bride” for my movie review blog post. We can enjoy both comedy and romance in this movie. The sound tracks and movie scenes of Maryland are wonderful. The scene that I like the best is when Maggie (Robert) was riding the horse in her wedding gown. It is an amazing scene.

Julia Roberts acted as Maggie Carpenter, a woman who ran a family hardware store in the small town of Hale, Maryland. She was known for running away from the wedding three times at last minutes and leaving heart broken grooms behind. It was because she felt that she didn’t love them deeply. Finally, she found the one who knew her very well.

Richard Gere’s role in “Runaway Bride” was USA Today columnist “Ike Graham”. He was told about Maggie and Ike wrote it on the paper. For this inaccurate article, Ike was fired by his editor, his ex-wife (Rita Wilson). In order to get back his job, Ike decided to go to Maggie’s small town to prove his story was true. It was the time Maggie was planning for her 4th marriage. But they two had the same character which was lack of self-understanding. And finally, Maggie and Ike were together and got married.

Though, “Runaway Bride” was not the top American romantic comedy movie, it is nice to watch and is really entertaining.

Nang,

You explain the nearly unbelievable plot clearly and concisely. It's easy to understand the main story and that this comedy is attractive for you thanks to its main actors.

I guess you would recommend this movies to others as well, right? I'm not a huge fan of either Julia Roberts or Richard Gere, so for skeptics like me, it might have been good to give a few more details about what make the film so appealing.

In any case, I do appreciate your hard work. Thank you!

Nang, do you agree with me that romantic comedies ALWAYS have unbeliavable plots? =p I am not a big fan of romantic comedies myself, so you should be more specific in giving out the interesting details of this film. By the way, if you like romantic comedies, have you watched Kate and Leopold? =)

Hi Nang, I have the same way with the others. Your review is pretty clear but it will be more interesting if you could add some details of the interesting scences.

hi,Nang, your review are very clear, but it will become better if you can add in some your own thoughts and analysis. i watched this movie 2 times, still cannot figure out why she run away everytime during the wedding. if she do not love the man who she is going to married to,why marry him, why don't run away before the wedding, ha ha, it just my opinion. again, good review, girl.

Hi Nang, I like the scence when Maggie (Robert) was riding the horse in her wedding gown too! she seemed so determined which is totally opposite from what we would normally think of a bride - showered with love and floating in the air. Although I have never watch this movie before, I guess the reason why she decided to get married and still run away during wedding is because she has yet to found the man that she loves. I guess perhaps she has been showered with the love by the guy who loves her a lot, hence, she is unable to differentiate whether the man or the care and concern is the one she likes.
